Life as an Intern

So far this academic year has been very busy. It started with ‘The Little Match Girl, which toured through the Autumn term as well as ‘No Kidding in run up to anti-bullying week. Last term was full of energy, laughter and learning experiences.

This term, Malcolm and I have been in rehearsals for ‘Thirst For Knowledge all of January and now we’re off on the road touring to schools all across the area. ‘Thirst For Knowledge is a Science and Geography piece for years five and six around the scientific and ethical responsibilities of explorers of the 19th Century.

Creating a new programme for the company has been incredibly interesting as it’s let me see the way in which The Play House create work. We tried lots of new, fun, ideas and really wrestled with some very large philosophical questions in its creation to really make this piece feel as though we were in the South American rainforest!

We are currently receiving great feedback from both students and teachers alike about the programme and are continuing the tour of this programme until the end of March. We are also performing at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in the spring half term as well as Think Tank during science week on the week commencing 29th February.

We will be back out in schools next week and as usual there’s lots to do before we depart on our next expedition!
