Lest We Forget

KS2: commemorating the centenary of the Armistice of World War I

The Play House have been working in partnership with the World War One Engagement Centre: Voices of War and Peace, for our new participatory theatre in education production marking the centenary of the Armistice of World War I.

Set in Birmingham and France, Lest We Forget explores the experiences of a wounded soldier from India and his time as a patient at an army hospital set up in a local school. The drama focuses on his relationship with a Birmingham family as the war draws to its close.

Lest We Forget will provide an opportunity for children to explore the significance of letters and poetry written during World War I and to learn more about the hidden stories of Commonwealth soldiers.

We will be providing an accompanying set of resources for KS2 teachers with this programme offering a host of exciting writing opportunities and historical information.
