It is the day of the theatre festival of Thebes and the children join the people of the city as they prepare to meet Niko, an actor who is rehearsing for a performance of Antigone by Sophocles. They explore the significance of theatre in Ancient Greece and perform alongside Niko as the chorus in the play.
The children discuss the origin and nature of democracy as they prepare a new ending for this epic tale where a young woman must make the choice between family loyalty or the law of the land.
