Trouble at Mill is a brand new exciting site-specific theatre–in-education programme.  The programme will take place at Sarehole Mill, the last surviving water mill in Birmingham and the place where writer J.R.R Tolkien took inspiration for his book ‘The Hobbit’. The mill houses a fully functioning water wheel and a bakehouse still in it’s original state.  The rich history of this location will be used as a stimulus for a story which will take key stage two pupils on a unique journey back in time.  They will have the chance to meet characters from the past and experience history at first hand.
Through participating in Trouble at Mill pupils will experience a provoking stimulus for exploring issues and develop their critical thinking and enquiry skills around history.
